Radu SORA is the Managing Partner of Sora & Asociații, a Romanian law firm providing legal services in complex commercial matters, construction and FIDIC contracts, public procurement, arbitration and commercial litigation, real estate and investments, competition law, energy, employment law, IT & Tech Law, media and advertising, transportation, debt recovery and insolvency.

His professional activity is focused primarily on complex projects involving construction contracts, FIDIC contracts, public procurement procedures, arbitration and high-value commercial disputes, assisting both Romanian companies and foreign investors.

Arbitration and Commercial Disputes

In addition to his activity as a lawyer, Radu SORA has also acted as an arbitrator within the Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania.

He is also an arbitrator within the Professional Arbitration Court of the Bucharest Bar, where he may act as sole arbitrator, presiding arbitrator or member of an arbitral tribunal in disputes concerning professional matters between lawyers.

Radu Valentin Sora is included on the list of arbitrators of the Vienna International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), one of the most important arbitration institutions in Central and Eastern Europe.

Since March 2026, Radu Sora is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and a recommended arbitrator of the South China International Arbitration Center (Hong Kong) (SCIAHK). His appointment as arbitrator is valid till February 2030.

His arbitration-related activity includes both representing clients in domestic and international arbitration proceedings and participating in arbitral proceedings as arbitrator.

Public Procurement, FIDIC Contracts and Construction Law

In recent years, a significant part of his professional activity has been focused on public procurement, FIDIC contracts and construction projects, both in the area of consultancy and contract management, as well as in litigation and arbitration arising from such contracts.

His work includes:

• drafting and negotiating contracts;
• FIDIC contract management;
• contractor’s claims;
• Dispute Board procedures;
• arbitration proceedings;
• commercial and administrative litigation;
• disputes related to the execution of public works contracts.

Professional Memberships and International Activity

Radu Sora is a member of the Bucharest Bar and also a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), one of the largest international organizations of legal practitioners.

He also represents the law firm within Alliott Global Alliance, an international alliance of law firms and financial consulting firms, which allows the firm to assist clients in cross-border projects, transactions and disputes.

Education and Professional Training

He graduated from the Faculty of Law – Nicolae Titulescu University of Bucharest.

He holds a diploma issued by Kennesaw State University, Georgia, United States, regarding the procedures of the courts of the United States.

He completed mediation training courses organized by the Foundation for Democratic Changes.

He also completed the Master’s Degree in International Commercial Arbitration (English program) at the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, with a dissertation titled “Extension of the Effects of the Arbitration Agreement to Non-Signatories”, analyzing the extension of arbitration agreements to non-signatories under Romanian law and arbitration rules.

Positions within the Bucharest Bar

Starting with 2023, for a four-year mandate, Radu Valentin Sora was elected by the General Assembly of Lawyers of the Bucharest Bar to several professional positions, including:

• Member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Bucharest Bar;
• Alternate member of the governing body of the Bucharest Bar;
• Auditor of the Lawyers’ Insurance House – Bucharest Ilfov Branch;
• Alternate member of the Board of the Lawyers’ Insurance House – Bucharest Ilfov Branch.
